So around this time last year, I decided it was about that time to start focusing back on me and my hair. Back then my hair was VERY damaged. I had at least 5 inches of damaged hair on my ends.
Immediately after making the decision to try out the Aphogee line of products, I noticed results. My hair was easier to maintain and it was very shiny and healthy looking.
The products I started using were Aphogee Shampoo for Damaged Hair followed by the Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructoer Conditioner. After I rinsed the condtioner out I would spray in the Aphogee Leave-In Conditioner. I would apply a good amount of Aphogee Style & Wrap Mousse and let air dry for a hour then blow dry and flat iron to style. I would flat iron my hair approixmately every other day or whenever I felt like I needed it.
I trimmed my hair every 6 weeks.
Around my 8th month is when I stopped blow drying and flat ironing as much. I only used my blow dryer & flat iron on my wash days. So I was using heat approximately once a week.
To date I no longer use the Aphogee Shampoo for Damaged Hair ((I actually ran out and decided that my hair no longer needed it)). My main shampoo is Garner Fructis Length and Strength Shampoo. I also no longer use the Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor ((Conditioner)). I actually mixed several conditioners together for my "moisturizing conditioner". I mix Cantu After Shampoo Rinse Out Conditioner, V05, Garnier Fructis Length and Strength Conditioner and a little African Herbal Oil. Whenever I felt like I needed to add protein together I would mix mayonnaise, olive oil, and 1 egg in a bowl and apply that to my hair in place of conditioner. Recently I purchase Organics brand Hair Mayonnaise. I'll be using that for a while.
I don't blow dry my hair as much as I used to. I only blow dry when my time schedule makes so that I don't have time to air dry. However, I still use my flat iron once a week but my hair has gotten soo healthy that it's to the point where..."I'm good." :)
Now, I only trim my hair whenever I find a split end. I haven't had to trim my hair since January.
So below are the before and after pics....

Hairy Situations : Over-Rinsing
Tuesday, February 9, 2010
Over-rinsing is when you rinse out your conditioner "too much". You shouldn't rinse your hair until it "squeaks" because that means that all the conditioning agents and natural oils have been stripped out of the hair resulting in it to become brittle and easy to split.
Over-rinsing will remove shine and cause hair to get tangled which will make it hard to comb out.

Hairy Situations: What Is Co-Washing?
Tuesday, June 23, 2009
Watch the vid : (Hairy Sits.)
What is Co-washing ?
Co-washing is a way to clean the hair only instead using conditioner in place of shampoo.
How to Co-Wash?
Washing in the shower is easiest. Just like you would use your shampoo, use the conditioner instead. Apply conditioner (any cheapie conditioner will do), lather (1 or 2 times), rinse. Then apply a better quality type of conditioner and let it sit on your hair while you shower. When done showering, rinse hair thoroughly and get out the shower. Simple.
How often you co-wash is up to you. Some people co-wash 1-3 times a week and then shampoo wash once a week, bi-weekly, or even just once a month.

Hairy Situations: Protective Hair Styling
Tuesday, June 16, 2009
Watch the vid here : (Protective Syling).
Protective hair styles are styles that protect the ends of the hair from rubbing back and forth across cotton shirts causing splitting and damage.
Wearing a protective hairstyle is great for a lot of reasons.
• Keeps your hair tucked away.
• Locks moisture into your hair.
• Keeps it from drying out.
• Prevents splits ends.
• Needs less combing and brushing.
• Causes less breakage.
Any style that tucks your hair away, especially the ends, is considered protective. Examples of protective hair styles : buns, phonytails (drawstring ponytails), wigs (full and half), sew-in weaves, Rollersets, Braids, cornrows, updo's or pinned up styles, braidouts, bantu knots and twistouts.
Using heat on your hair daily is not a good look. If you’re addicted to heat styling everyday try switching to every other day then reducing that to every other 2 days. Trust me you’re hair will love you for it..and in turn you’ll love your hair.

Hair Update
Sunday, June 14, 2009
So I've decided to stretch my relaxer this month. I'm not sure how long I'm going to stretch for. I'm saying 10 weeks right now..but we'll see. Right now I'm going into my 5th week. I was supposed to be doing my Aphogee Protein Treatment on Wednesday/Thursday..but since I'm stretching I'm going to wait.
This month will be the 3rd month since I've started my Aphogee regime. My hair has grown considerably. Right now it's at the bottom of my chin and the left side of my head (which was the most damaged) is at the middle of my chin. I'll post pics probably around the 21st/22nd of this month which is when I had already planned to do it when I started.
I can honestly say with my new hair routine and the help of my new products...my hair is the healthiest its ever been. I've never been able to wait the whole 6 weeks to relax my hair. lol. and now I'm actually going to stretch for the first time. My hair is sooo flowy, my roots feel great (like I have new growth but I have it soo under control that I can barely notice it). I'm looking forward the my 6 month results which will be in September. Yay!
*Also I forgot to put this weeks topic for Hairy Sits. on my blog post yesterday. I still haven't decided yet lol. I'm leaning toward protective hair styles and the importance of them....but idk yet.*
